Stillroll Privacy Policy
How Stillroll handles your information.
Effective date: 22 September 2026
Who we are
Stillroll is provided by Shimeng Wu, trading as Clockquill ("we" or "us"). Shimeng Wu is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact: clockquill@gmail.com.
Summary
Stillroll processes your images and screen recordings on your device. We do not receive, sell, or share the media you process or the results you create. The app has no user accounts, advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send.
Content you choose to process
Stillroll reads images or recordings you select through Apple’s system photo picker to create long images. Matching, preview generation, seam adjustments, and export preparation take place on your device. Selected media and generated results are not uploaded to us.
Where an available build supports system screen capture, capture starts through Apple’s system approval interface and the captured content is processed locally. Capture availability depends on the build, device, OS, and Apple permissions.
Photos, Files, and sharing
Importing is limited to the items you select. Saving an image to Photos requests the permission needed to add it to your library. If you choose to delete source items after saving, Stillroll requests the Photos access required for that action, and Apple presents the applicable permission and deletion confirmation.
You choose the destination when exporting through Apple’s document interface or Share sheet. Content is shared only with the destination you select, which handles it under its own privacy practices. Stillroll does not scan or upload your photo library.
Local storage and retention
Stillroll creates temporary working files while importing, processing, previewing, or exporting. Some app-managed files may remain after an operation or interrupted session; the app cleans up its previous-run temporary import and export directories on launch. Files you save to Photos, Files, or another app remain under your control there.
Preferences are stored on your device until you change them or delete the app and its data.
Local diagnostics
The app keeps size-limited diagnostic records on your device to help investigate failures and memory use. They include app and OS versions, timestamps, a per-session identifier, processing events, numeric processing information, and memory measurements. They do not contain screenshot or recording content, recognised text, or media file paths.
These records are not automatically sent to us. Older records are replaced as the local log rotates; the app keeps bounded current and previous-run logs and excludes that diagnostic directory from backup. Deleting the app and its data removes its local diagnostic records.
Support communications
If you email us or submit the support form, we receive your email address and the information you provide, such as the selected app, subject, and message. The web form accepts text only; it does not attach your screenshots, recordings, or local diagnostics.
Cloudflare hosts the website and processes form submissions; Google stores support email in our Gmail inbox. These providers may process information outside your country. Visiting the policy or support website also involves connection information, such as your IP address. The website privacy notice explains those operations.
We use support information to respond, investigate issues, and protect the service. Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in providing support and securing the service. We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for the request, relevant follow-up, and applicable legal obligations. We do not sell it or use it for advertising or tracking.
Your choices and rights
You control which media you import, where you save or share results, and whether eligible source items are deleted. You can change Photos permissions in system Settings.
For information held in support correspondence, contact clockquill@gmail.com to request access, correction, or deletion, or to object to or request restriction of processing. Rights depend on applicable law and may be subject to exceptions. Where UK data protection law applies, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy and its effective date when our data practices change. Changes affecting a released app will be described before those changed practices are introduced.
